wahl eversharp bantam

i could not find any guides on how to replace the bulb and attach the clamped down ring so i thought i would post one.

1.  remove all the bits of the old sac that are visible on the edge.  this will give you the tiniest little lip that extends beyond the crimped ring.

2.  with a pin poke out as much of the sac as you can from under the locking ring.

3.  with a box cutter or exacto knife slowly work the blade in the gap between the nib side of the pen and the crimped ring to pry the ring off.  once mine started moving it just slid right off.

4.  clean out the remaining sac that was covered by the crimped ring

5.  very lightly sand the inside of the ring to take off any burs or sharp edges that might damage the sac or prevent it from sliding easily over the sac

6.  cut the sac to size and dry fit it to double check it is the right length.  after this we can dry fit the pen with the ring.

7.  slide the ring over the sac so about 1-2 mm of the sack is  sticking out beyond the ring

8.  attach the sac around the tip of the nipple like this

9 here is the wierd part.  you are going to pull the ring down over the nipple but at the same time pull back on the sac.  if you do it right the ring will slide forward as the sac is pulled back making the two even.  if you are less lucky the ring will still slide forward but there will be extra sac that extend beyond the ring and into the threading.  if this happens during the final fitting you can just carefully cut away the extra sac.

10.  pull of the sac and the ring

11.  talc the end of the sac that will be covered by the ring.  this will help the ring slide easier and will help deal with any moisture that might be trapped under the ring.

12.  shellac the nipple

13.  repeat steps 7-9

14.  clean of any flash and talc the sac
